George Downing – Table Tennis Coach & Former International Player George Downing is a highly experienced table tennis coach and former international player, dedicated to developing players of all ages and abilities. As a competitor, George represented England at junior and senior levels, earning national titles and competing across Europe. His playing career gave him a deep understanding of high-performance training, match strategy, and mental preparation. Transitioning into coaching, George has built a strong reputation for his technical knowledge, motivational approach, and ability to tailor sessions to individual playing styles. He works with players ranging from beginners to elite athletes, helping them achieve their personal goals and reach new competitive heights. Coaching Philosophy: George believes in creating a positive, engaging environment where players can build confidence through purposeful practice. His coaching is centered on developing solid technical foundations, intelligent tactical play, and a strong competitive mindset. He encourages players to think independently, enjoy the process of improvement, and play with both focus and creativity.

George Reeves - assistant Coach Affiliation: Southend & District Table Tennis League • Essex Table Tennis • Table Tennis England (local level) Early Life & Introduction to the Sport George Reeves developed his passion for table tennis in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, where he first made a name for himself as a talented and determined league player. His early involvement in the sport naturally evolved into a lifelong dedication—not only to competing but to mentoring and developing players of all ages. Playing & Coaching Career As a player, Reeves represented several Southend and Essex clubs in the Southend & District Table Tennis League, competing regularly in the upper divisions. Known for his consistency and tactical understanding of the game, he earned a reputation as one of the league’s most dependable performers. Building on this foundation, Reeves transitioned into coaching, working with both junior and senior players across Southend and neighbouring Essex clubs. His approach to coaching emphasised technique, mental strength, and enjoyment of the sport, helping to nurture local talent and grow participation at the grassroots level.
Debbie O’Neill is a respected table tennis player, coach, and organiser based in Essex, England. Known for her dedication to the sport both on and off the table, Debbie has become a well-recognised figure within the local table tennis community. As an active competitor, she represents Matchpoint Table Tennis Club, where she plays in the Southend and Basildon leagues. Her commitment and competitive spirit have led her to success in regional tournaments — including a notable victory in the Essex County Table Tennis Association finals, where she and her doubles partner Hannah Harbour claimed the Ladies Doubles title. Beyond her playing career, Debbie has been deeply involved in the development of the sport at the grassroots level. She contributes to club organisation and youth development initiatives, supporting coaching sessions and helping to coordinate local competitions. Her work ensures that young players in Essex have access to quality training and opportunities to progress in the sport.

Mark Mulley Table Tennis Player & Coach Mark Mulley is a dedicated table tennis professional with a lifelong passion for the sport. With years of competitive and coaching experience, Mark has developed a deep understanding of both the technical and tactical sides of the game. As an accomplished player, Mark has competed in numerous league and tournament events, earning respect for his consistency, focus, and sportsmanship. His playing style combines sharp reflexes, strategic thinking, and a calm, analytical approach at the table. Off the court, Mark is equally committed to helping others develop their skills. He has coached players across all levels — from beginners learning the fundamentals to advanced athletes refining their technique and match strategy. Mark’s coaching philosophy centers on discipline, confidence, and enjoyment of the game, ensuring every player reaches their full potential. Passionate about promoting table tennis in the community, Mark continues to inspire others through his dedication, professionalism, and love for the sport.
